EUHPC will discuss the ever-changing disruptive forces that endanger our urban hubs and recompose geopolitical ties while delving into New Orleans’ sustainability challenges. Both topics are of paramount significance in the 3rd millennial society. Fifteen years after Hurricane Katrina, the Birthplace of Jazz music seeks to engage with the steadily growing threats of flooding issues, more frequent storms, sinking of soil and enhance human and community resilience. The European Horizons Policy Competition aims at answering these fast-growing tussles and bringing together ambitious students who want to grow their policy-writing skillsIn this two-round competition, students will be asked to design a viable policy solution to key issues of our stakeholder: the City of New Orleans’ Office of Resilience and Sustainability (ORS).

They will craft policy memos containing their policy recommendations, and, if selected, will give a presentation to our panel of judges. EUHPC takes place fully online; participants will compete to solve case studies provided by our partner using policy to address some of the environmental issues facing New Orleans.
